My psychic gifts
Back on Oct. 22, I fearlessly predicted that I would get jury duty. Well, I just called for my reporting instructions, and guess what: I have to be at the courthouse bright and early tomorrow morning. Since it's Halloween, perhaps the courthouse personnel will at least be dressed in festive costumes. Now we'll see if I make it as far as jury selection for the first time ever.

    Repost...

Like the new look. Cool glass pic. I especially like being able to
comment on individual posts instead of doing the Guest Book thing.
Also like being able to put carriage returns in comments without
having to put in the HTML code (are you listening, *Paula*??).

I've never had to show up for jury duty - only have had to call in
over the phone 3 or 4 times. The last notice I received was years and
years ago. It's too bad, because I'd like to do the jury thing
    someday. Hope yours goes well.

I'm down with the new design too! Did you at least get to go to the Oakland courthouse, or did you have to haul ass to Hayward?

When I was at grad school at Berkeley a friend of mine got called to Hayward for jury duty. They were totally unimpressed with the fact that he didn't have a car and had to make a 35 BART ride + 30 minute bus ride to get there.

Great new look. Jury duty on Halloween must be surreal. You don't get to dress up or anything. I won $25 in the office costume contest.

So what was your winning costume, yellojkt?

    Lovely new blog, Sue!

Re: Jury Duty--I enjoyed it and would gladly serve again, if only so I could once again ace the crossword puzzle in the juror newsletter. But in NYC you only get called once every four years.

I can just see Flasshe...awaiting his manservant's arrival in order to refill his snifter of brandy, brusquely ordering his groom to take better care of the horses, starching his collars...and waiting for his carriage to return. Okay, "carriage return" isn't quite as ancient as that - but it's been seemingly since the Victorian era that I've heard the term.
