A Cry For Self-Help: Day 14: How's your plant?
It's time to check in with my plant. "Is it thriving? Is it dead (be honest)?" My plant is awesome, thank you, and I've only had to water it once. Pothos are the best!

The activity for Sunday was to "make a record of [my] home-cooked meals" during the past week, to make sure I'm not in a food rut. I bought some nice tomatoes at the farmer's market, so I made several facon lettuce tomato sandwiches on whole-wheat bread. One night, I had faux sausage and Eggos, which may not technically qualify as a "home-cooked" dinner, but I only made that for myself because I had been so busy cooking an elaborate beef dish for Joe -- does it count if you're making dinner for someone else? My most successful culinary effort of the week was a mixture of frozen tortellini and steamed broccoli mixed with a dollop of Alfredo sauce. Yes, we traffic a lot in convenience foods hereabouts.

I "NEAT activated" a sedentary activity by purchasing a Magnetrainer Mini Exercise Bike, which is stationed next to the living room sofa. I can sit back and watch TV on my own comfortable couch while pedaling the bike, which is surprisingly quiet and unobtrusive. I rode over five miles while watching "The Amazing Race."

So things are humming along, fitness-wise. While I was anxiously trying to finish some work this evening, I was listening to a public radio interview program with guest David Allen, the productivity guru. I bought his book Getting Things Done in MP3 format about four years ago and listened to it twice. I bought a label maker and labeled all of my files -- well, most of my files. However, I never quite got into it all the way; my inbox has never been anywhere near empty (I have 119 messages in my inbox now, which is quite low for me), and I have open loops galore. Maybe I need to start thinking of doing two self-help courses at once.

I am intrigued by that mini-cycle. I think I may get one! Thanks for the tip.

Was the beef dish for Joe the one Marty and I tested? Did he love it?
