| Left Coast Crime: Who'll stop the rain? |
I have been too busy to blog -- I was impressed, though, that author Clare Langley-Hawthorne had time to write up her experiences watching a panel I was on! You can read about it here. It was very successful, in part, I'm guessing, because the weather was positively gloomy; no one had anything better to do than sit in a meeting room listening to people talk about mysteries. We had a standing room only crowd. I felt a bit faint when I got up on the dais and looked out on the sea of faces, but things went well, and of course there were four other people up there with me. For some reason, I tend to be OK with public speaking as long as I am not up there alone.
The weather was marginally better today (at least it wasn't raining) and attendance at the panels was down a slight bit, it seemed to me. I was on two panels today. I was representing Jeff Cohen on the Lefty Awards panel and he had recorded a message for the attendees, so all I had to do was press play on iTunes -- that was easy! My second panel was called "Books Recommended by Readers" (there was a "Books Recommended by Authors" panel yesterday) and I was there in place of someone who had to drop out due to a family emergency. I recommended the two Swedish novels I wrote about in this entry.
Now, thankfully, my panels are behind me and I can relax. Tomorrow and Wednesday are supposed to have some sunshine (gasp) so I'm hoping I can get back out of the hotel and enjoy Hawaii -- maybe even put the top down on that convertible we rented. |
