"Instead of Abrakadabra" was the last of 5 shorts screened and the only one that was straight ahead funny, even if it did have some dark elements. (Three were totally bleak tales about slavery in India, Chernobyl and a school shooting spree. The fourth was a hilarious but very very dark comedy.) It follows the misadventures of a 25-year-old live-at-home nerdy lad trying to make a go at being a professional magician. They were all first rate, whereas I thought only three of the animated ones would be worth a repeated viewing, and only one "Logorama" was outstanding. I hope it wins!
